The best of luck on the Auction! Although the coin did not get re-graded by PCGS, I believe that it should fetch a really nice price as it is a superb specimen of this rare Date and Mintmarked $5 Gold piece. I also believe that Heritage's description of the coin and Pop numbers will help boost the interest of many deep pocketed Collectors!

I agrre with Frank. I think the coin also has excellent eye appeal for a piece that has been wiped.

 

Heritage did a very nice job showing the piece!

I just revisited this thread after I noticed that the coin has already been bid up to 16,000! Congrats! The cleaning really isn't too terrible, which I suspect is part of the reason it is doing so well.

 

Whoopie! That's great news for Tommy and makes us all ecstatic for him! I am sure that the bids will go much higher as the Auction nears closing but $16,000 ain't too shabby either!

Hi guys, Well she sold for $16,000! ($18,400) realized. I am sad that it is over, but I am very pleased with the outcome. I wanted to let you all know how thankful I am for cointalk, and all the members following and helping me through this long journey!
You guys are great!!! I would also like to thank Zaneman personally! He replied to about 40 pm's of mine. He also helped with setting me up with the apropriate people at heritage I had to deal with.
