Hi guys, I went to the local show today. Did pretty good. I bought some Barber Dimes, only need one P to have the complete P set, then on to the mint marks. I got 3 Large Cents in VG, very nice quality. I added a few pieces my growing Vatican collection, all 20th century. I also started my slabbed MS 64 Walker short set, with my first two in that series.

As is I guess with all shows some dealers prices are good some are pretty high. Alot of very high grade slabbed stuff to be had.
All in all, it was a good show, I am pretty sure it's almost monthly, so you get the same dealers with alot of the same stuff, but since I am just getting back into the swing of things they have alot of stuff that I need.

    regards Tony

Congrats on your new acquisitions Tony !! I really like going to coin shows. Seeing the coins in person is much better than buying on-line or from a price list.

Now if I could only find coin shows with coins I want to buy :D

    Good report, Tony.
I remember talking to you about Barber dimes. Glad to hear that you are so close to completing your Philadelphia date set.

The "coin shows" around these parts, are always in conjuction with the more popular "gun shows".
They usually have 20-50 dealer tables, but still probably not a typical coin show.

I'd love to go to one, some day. The Baltimore show was about 350 miles away. I just couldn't afford to make the trip. (poor me)

Sounds as if you had a good time. That show is a pretty regular one. While most of the dealers are local guys, it will give you the chance to get to know a few. Show prices are just like any other. It all depends on the material and the dealer. Find a good one, and you will reap the benefits.

    thanks

Thanks all, Yeah, since I am just recently back into collecting I am like a kid in a candy store at shows. I have to remember to keep my head. This time I did good and just spent the amount I wanted to. I know what you mean about the dealers Nat. I see already some I won't deal with.

    regards Tony

Hi Tony. I'm glad you made it to the show again. We couldn't make it this time but maybe we'll see you at the next one. It's great that you found so many nice items. :D

    Hi

Hi Susan, haven't seen you on the boards lately. Yes I will probably go to every show, since it's only 20 min. for me to get there. Hope to see you there soon. Oh yeah the book guy wasn't there this week hope he shows up soon.

This time of year is incredibly busy for us - this year more than any yet. I've checked in on the forum when I can - usually for about 15 minutes a day. I do want to make the next Parsippany show. Are they having one in January?

Hi, I am pretty sure it's monthly. I will let you know for sure when I find out. I think there is another one in Weschester in Jan, that's a pretty big show, I think over 100 dealers. I went to that one 2 weeks ago, lotta stuff to be had. Weschester would take you about another 45 min. compared to Parsippany.
