I have removed all of my coin products from Ebay because their buyers are cheap and are looking for distress sales. I left my banknotes because they are cheapies but they won't sell either because ebay buyers are cheapskates.

Do you think that your prices / idea of value may be a bit 'optimistic' ??

I think that you may be lumping all who buy on Ebay together.

So, we may assume you have never purchased anything from ebay, right?

Couldn,t be your prices are too high, or your products are undesirable?

There is a downturn in the coin market right now, and the prices have been soft for many items. There are many people making offers right now hoping to get a steal, or distress buy like you say, but there are still plenty of buyers at fair prices as well. Problem is that we as sellers have to realize that the market has changed and however annoying or painful it is adjust our prices to current market, or risk becoming museum caretakers.
If someone sends me a silly offer, I just decline. If someone sends me a fair offer, I accept or counter. Simple. I don't get offended. When my items end after 30 days, I usually adjust the price lower to attract interest. Sometimes I even accept a loss or break even position if I know that the money can be used better elsewhere. Like buying new inventory at the new current market price.
Really one of the biggest issues I have been having recently has been coins that I have on consignment from collectors who are not willing to accept this current market, and refuse to accept reasonable current market prices on coins they bought a few years ago for then current higher prices.

You're very logical but I'll wait until the market is where it's supposed to be instead of selling my collection for peanuts. Luckily I have two nice pensions coming in and a third that I was forced to take by the Infernal Revenue Service. Our government stinks!

So, I assume that the recent coin purchase that I made at a very fair price of $1,575.00 makes me a cheapskate?

I knew that I was a "deplorable"...but was trying to avoid becoming a cheapskate.

I don't really understand all the negative sentiments regarding eBay. I understand there can be negative experiences for sellers, but you also get access to a huge audience, and the fees are lower than selling through an auction house. The more people there are, the more jerks there are, and there are a lot of people on eBay.

Not every online transaction is going to go smoothly, and I've had my fair share of duds, but many of the real jewels of my collection have come from eBay as well, including many original patterns and proofs that would be hard to find regardless of the venue.

What's your eBay moniker?, maybe your items are not coming the price you want them to come in because people don't see you them worth that much
