That D looks too nice. I would say it is probably an added mintmark. Hairlines in the MM area are not helping matters much.

Cleaned. Can't say one way or another about the mint mark. It is consistent with some of the coins pictured on PCGS CoinFacts, but this is one coin I'd buy already certified.

If the price is right, and have deep pockets, I would take a chance. Not sure what the picture is showing about the obverse rim at 8:00 O'clock. IMO coin looks MS condition.

I am not a quarter expert either, but WOW!!!

It that is real, MS 65 and maybe better. However, at that grade, my guess would be counterfeit even though I see nothing to really say it is. That coin is too nice not to be certified.

Dat being sold by Great Southern Coins, OP? If so, I'd reconsider the purchase. These folks are known for their slight of hand regarding pictures and these photos might be hiding something

I would pass... I will echo to nice not to have been slabbed . And I agree the coin has been cleaned or doctored

    Two things strike me immediately.

    1) The coin is a higher grade and since it is NOT slabbed, I would be more wary of an unacceptable cleaning in the past. (luster is hard to tell from the pics)

    2) On a genuine 1932-D the mint mark has some very specific characteristics. It should look like it is sunk into an impression or pool, and it should have a triangular center (exactly the same as a 1916-D Mercury Dime, it was the same punch.)

I would examine the mint mark carefully and if you need, take a few close-ups of it and post them here. You're sure to get some help.

The luster is an important part of this coin as it plays heavily in grade at this level. If it is washed out, the coin has been harshly cleaned and will be deemed a problem coin, in which case I would pass unless it is a real bargain.

While this quarter is very striking to look at, I would only agree to buy it if the seller sends it in for grading. Set a price and agree to pay the fees but no way would I touch that without it being professionally graded.

those pics are juiced. It looks like they've dropped the colors into near greyscale as to hide more obvious flaws, which IMO is an artificial luster, and that coin has been whizzed, you can see the cross hatching in between the neck and the IN GOD WE TRUST and blending from the hair tie into the field. Bad Juju, stay away. Also, there are more fake 32Ds out there than there are real. If you're going to drop some cash online for one, go slabbed.

I've no doubt about the coin's authenticity, but as Mr. Green said, one should approach this seller with the greatest of caution, and this is particularly true with a coin such as this. This seller has turned deceptive imaging into a (regretable) art form, and their no questions return policy often gives comfort to those who probably shouldn't be buying from them in the first place (said policy is also self serving in that it allows them to keep feedback higher than it otherwise would be). Unless very confident in your in hand abilities, or priced well into the "worst case scenario" range, you're almost certainly better off avoiding IMO.

Yep. That's the best-possible reason to just walk away. That coin ain't what it seems.

green18 touched on something important and I will add...I sincerely hope that is NOT a stock photo, and there is NO way of knowing for sure. I would not purchase such a valuable coin unless it was slabbed. I have both the 32D & S but I purchased them in hand at a LCS. (in Very Fine)

Sad story.......I found both of these coins right out of the 'change' when I was a kid. I put them into one of those old Whitman folders. At that time there were three volumes. To this date, I can only account for the latter two. Must have been lost in the move some twenty odd years ago........or perhaps a baby sitter (with a parent who collected coins) swiped the first volume. It still makes me sick.

I nearly had the same thing to me happen. It was high school and I brought my Roosevelt Dime folder in for a show on Numismatics I was doing. I buried it in my home room desk for lunch time to come back and find it gone. It was complete at the time. (1970) I knew one of my classmates took an awfully suspicious interest in it during the presentation. I got lucky though. My Vice Principal and I had an excellent rapport and he thought it prudent to take a look inside this persons locker, and there it was. Sorry you did not get yours back. I know I would be sick to the bitter end of life if this happened. It takes a long time to accomplish something valuable.

That's the thing about age Tommy......you just accept certain things and don't fret no more. You begin to accept the things that you can't change, and try to change the whims that you can. At any rate, the good Lord has treated me well......not that we's talkin' religion.....we ain'ts talkin' religion........ :)
