Found this 1972-D dime with what I believe to be a strike through. Perhaps a struck thru wire. Thoughts? Is it just PMD?

Apologies for the horrible photos. Im trying my best :,)

    I say struck through fiber/string.

    Neat.

It looks like there also may be another strike through on his ear. Looking forward to closer pictures. :)

I say "Strike through" On the reverse and a "Scratch" on the obverse. You can see how the two are different.

Woohoo! I got the Paddyman seal of approval :) Struck through string is a good thought that I hadn't considered.

Keen eye! I hadn't noticed that (I was too focused on what I thought was an RPM on the obverse). New pictures incoming.

Looks to me like the same texture as the reverse struck through, but it is thinner and smaller.

It’s a struck through but it doesn’t look like a piece of wire caused that.

Too bad the coin is so worn. It may have been a nice example. Less desirable in his condition unfortunately. JMO.

Yeah. Fortunately it carries a lot more luster than many 1970s dimes still circulating. I'm very happy to add it to my collection. With closer photos, it looks like the obverse mark is a struck through and not a scratch to me. What do you think?
