Possible 1974 BU error Lincoln cent

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Robert Theroux, Jun 24, 2024.

  1. I have come across a 1974 Lincoln cent from one of the mint rolls I opened. the coin is struck off center and looks to have been double struck.

The most obvious part is the D in the word GOD.

Any help in confirming this and the possible value will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You in advance

It may be an off center strike but we need to see a photo of the reverse to confirm. More than likely it is a misaligned die strike using an aging die with some slop in the equipment (DD and MD present). It doesn’t have a premium associated with it though.

    Not an off center strike.
It's a common Misaligned Die Strike.
The doubling is Deterioration doubling or mechanical doubling.
    Aka worthless doubling.
