Fantastic OP-score, Mikey-Z (a total winner) Sadly, I don't have one of those big fancy silver babies ... ummm, I'm fairly sure that my only example from Lysimachos is this humble AE offering ... yah, it's kinda like the fat cousin of your sweet OP-gem
I bought a Lysimachos Tet. when I had more budget to spent on my collection. My timing could have been better as I paid quite a high price for it when the market was buoyant. I parted with it when I had to tighten my belt a little. Lysimachos, Silver tetradrachm Obv:– Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon. Rev:– BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΛYΣMAXOY, Athena seated left, holding Nike in extended right hand, left arm resting on shield, spear behind, monogram in inner left field, monogram under Throne Ainos mint. Posthumous issue struck after 281 B.C. Reference:- Thompson -, Muller -. Allocated to Ainos thanks to Barry Murphy who stated "Not the same dies or the same monograms, but clearly the same engraver as Meydicikkale 2691".
Again, many thanks for all who posted and commented. My OP was meant to convey the relative difficulty there can be assigning a 'fair market value' on any coin that exhibits so many pros and cons, despite ---or because of---- otherwise significant eye-appeal. And so many of us probably feel we overpay for a coin without consciously intending to, let alone when we are certain we have but we simply MUST have it. Of course, we all have budget issues that constrain us whether we can easily afford to pay more or not and that always makes a coin purchase far more difficult and frustrating than any of us would prefer, especially with the prospect of letting one pass us by only to later discover for months on end that similar examples are far more expensive than the one we could have had.
