Yes, this completed Dansco would fit my personality just fine. It's an accomplishment/satisfaction kind of thing. On the other hand, it's a catch 22, complete one and destroy another.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. The eye appeal with all the different strikes and colors, plus I have some nice toners mixed in would be over the top unique for my level of collecting.
You're exactly right. I've seen most of my collection devalue over the years! Where else can you say you're losing money but having fun. Vegas I guess!
Storage space is an issue for me as well. I think I'm looking for an excuse to get rid of these stinkin mint and proofs sets. They have cost me nothing but money and space over the years.
It's just hard for me to get excited about a set of coins sealed in plastic. I'm about the only one around here who collects coins and I love showing them to people and talking about them. I can show someone one of my albums and they find it amazing and ask questions about the coins, right down my alley. I can show them a mint set sealed in the original packaging and I get a "What For?" look which is exactly what I feel when I look at them. I'm in no way trying to talk you into something that you don't feel comfortable with, but I'm comfortable with it.
Gee, whenever I went to Vegas, I had fun winning money. I remember one year winning so many silver strikes from Slots-A-Fun and the Stardust, that TSA pulled us aside to inspect our carry-on luggage during our departure. Chris
Agreed. They do nothing for me as well. Like @MrOrange1970 said, I believe seeing the contrast between the MS's, proof's, AU's, Circulated, colors, toners, etc.. would look amazing in this Dansco! Yours and the other opinions/commend confirm my thoughts. I needed a reality check.
Thanks for the feedback and input on this gents! It might be awhile but I'll post pictures of this Dansco when it's full and complete to my satisfaction.
Really. There is a guy about 12 miles from me who I know that collects and a couple more about 30 miles or so. There are others I'm sure that just keep stuff they find. Had a teacher ask the other day at a high school football game, if I would come to the school and do a presentation. One of the kids had told her about my collecting. My job at the moment won't allow me but I would absolutely love it.
How did they know? Damn, now a days you should keep your collecting info to yourself - OK, maybe I'm just paranoid but around these parts of Cleveland there are so many break-ins just for your shoes , let alone if they know you got coins!!
