"Of all the Silver Eagles minted, only a fraction can claim the distinction of being in Mint-State 70 (MS70) condition – perfect specimens. But now National Collector’s Mint has actually improved on perfection. At our direction, these premium examples of the coinage art have been carefully acquired, independently evaluated and professionally certified to be perfect MS70 specimens. Then, by exclusive agreement with the 37th Treasurer of the United States, each one troy ounce “Treasurer’s Choice” Silver Eagle is carefully sealed in a tamper-proof case, along with a unique label confirming its perfect status, and bearing the signature of Angela M. Buchanan herself. This release of these spectacular coins is limited, so get yours now!"

I thought that NGC has been using the "Edge View" slab since 2008 or so.

Yeah, I didn't notice that. I wonder if this is a botched Photoshop or this is really the slab they're using?

I think National Collectors Mint has come up with an attractive way for NGC to move old stock slabs. All NGC has to do is prostitute themselves to a business interest, an action both major TPG's are pretty good at.

It bears mentioning that of 309,167 2016 MS Eagles PCGS has slabbed, 216,548 - or 70% - are MS70.

paying for this to be graded makes no sense. the only graded silver bullion to be slabbed for me would be the proofs.

Just another way to abuse the uneducated out of their money.
In a way it kinda reminds me of how "some" advertise their load on ebay.

The real shame of it is that the TPGs aid and abet in this fleecing.

Paying to have silver bullion graded, proof or not makes no sense to me. I mean why? it is silver bullion, it comes in a great case directly from the mint. It is already going to be 69 or 70 proof and your not going to be able to tell from the naked eye. So if your not trying to resell it to granny as some imaginary super fine coin, when it is silver bullion, why are you paying to have it slabbed?

I'd rather have my ASE proofs in the OGP any day. But grading everyday bullion coins is an extreme example of not doing the math.

Especially when you go to sell. A dealer will offer below melt and most collectors want to pay melt regardless of the slab.

Yeah, but so they pay $2-4 below melt, for a silver coin, it cost what about $25+ to grade it and slab it by the time you count postage? Your actually paying more to grade it and slab it than what its worth as silver.

So unless your like pushing these in TV commercials trying to sucker people into thinking they need them at 99$ a pop. Whats the point?

I think the TV peddlers have had a lot to do with people falling for graded bullion. Not completely responsible, but you never see them when they're not making outlandish claims about these.

I myself do not buy these. just saying that the proof coins already come in a government mint case.
