1900 was a crazy year for quarters. There were three obverse (I, II, III) and two reverse hubs (II, III) used, resulting in a possible 18 different combinations across P, O and S mints. I'm quite pleased with this AU58 having the relatively scarce combination of Obv I over Rev III. The luster is great, no major marks, and just a hint of wear and some light scratches. For Philadelphia I now have the I/II, I/III, II/III and III/III combos.
This one brings me down to 5 left for the set. Slowly, but surely. I am not a toner sort but the gold peripheral toning seemed to set this piece off.
That is a very good point! Good eye! I will have to look when I get home. It would be nice to have a "No AW" version, but I am not sure if it was just the lighting.
Wow, I just got this in change! I could tell it had been around a while but I'm used to seeing a few 50s and 60s nickels in change. I flipped it over, saw the S and, wow!
