IMG_0237.jpeg IMG_0236.jpeg IMG_0237.jpeg IMG_0237.jpeg So, guys and gals, I need some opinions and input on this one, 1907 IHC, I grabbed it months ago for $7- $9 only because of the back which I believe to be major strike through dropped characters, and it’s really become a puzzle to me trying to figure it out. See pics and any opinion or info is welcomed. And thanks in advance.

I’m sorry to say it but to me it looks like the reverse has been damaged.

The edges of all of the depressions are roughly parallel, implying they were all rolled, either into the coin or into the mill stock. Since they are not raised above the surface of the coin, they were not rolled into the coin after strike.

Therefore, I think lots of small fragments of something were rolled into the planchet stock and flaked off of the coin over time . . . Delaminations after strike.

The indentations look like diamond shaped bite teeth marks from a vise jaw.

Tough coins, you may have it there. I really don’t think it’s all just after mint damage. If you’ll look at the E and T in cent, you can almost make it an E over the T.

I was thinking a vise job.

Wow, interesting coin...I see marks out to and including the edge.
