    Three pieces I don't usually post ...

    1795 Dollar Gray All.jpg

It's harder to get a really sharp 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar than you might think. Many varieties were lightly struck and went from Mint State to EF very quickly while in circulation. This one is graded EF-40, but it has luster in the protected areas which suggests a grade 5 points higher.

    1798 Small Eagle Dol All.jpg

The 1798 Small Eagle Reverse is a scarce coin. There were just two varieties of it before the mint switched to the Heraldic Eagle reverse.

    1801 Dollar All.jpg

The 1801 is sort of "sleeper date." It's actually scarcer than any of the other Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle reverse coins. I wish this one were a little nicer. The picture shows this EF-45 graded piece at its very best.

1902-O was rare date before a few bags of them turned up in the government vaults in the early 1960s. The most famous one was the 1903-O which went from $1,500 (big bucks in 1960) to $5 in the blink of an eye. The price has since recovered a bit, but not like what it was. Two other dates that "became common" were the 1898-O and the 1904-O.

I have so many silver dollars I can’t possibly post them but even worn this is one of my favorites. It’s the 1888-O Doubled Die lips variety. The nickname for this is “Hot Lips”. 3956232A-4F95-4392-AF79-4924D93C3269.jpeg 6C65AA14-0127-4D61-921A-0F802702A12F.jpeg 88F3FF71-8BB8-4CA4-8F86-EAB686775A25.jpeg
