This dime arrived in the mail yesterday fresh from the vast inventories of eBay. I am pretty happy with this coin. And as a hint, it's in one of my all time favorite TPG Slabs. The reveal will be at 7:30 PM Pacific. So it will be a short GTG.
65 FB and agree one nice looking specimen, and a broken nose to boot. Rim to rim die crack just another added plus
You guys are very good. That mark on her cheek I believe is from improper annealing and was caused during the strike. Looking at it, it doesn't seem to have the characteristics of a post strike hit. I could be wrong on that of course, and it wouldn't be the first time. I know that things like that are not supposed to effect the technical grade, but it does lower the eye appeal. Other than that, I really dig this dime. I totally think that this dime would get FSB at PCGS today. I am not sure when ANACS started attributing the FSB on these.
All I can say is one nice dime honestly graded in one of my favorite soap bar slabs. Nice coin with plenty of eye appeal .
I know right.. If ANACS still put out these small holders, I'd get all of my raw coins graded and have them put in them. Recently, I have picked up a couple of basement slabs that are nearly identical in size as these ANACS holders. I would really like to know where to get these. I would like them more than keeping my coins in Air-Tites and keeping them loose in a box.
Speaking of Air-Tites and storage, they do have display cards and albums for them. I'm considering picking some up. You can also get storage boxes that fit the display cards.
ANACS started using the designations in 1989 with the first small white slabs. Quoting a January 1989 copy of "The Numismatist" Full Head , Cameo, Full Split Bands, Full Bell Lines, Full Steps, were just some of the descriptions used. Not sure what the graders saw on this coin not to use FSB. I have a 1940-D dime MS-64FSB serial number CD9632 Sorry no reverse picture at this time.
