    The hut type is nice and large (for the period) and occasionally comes in top shape:

    That coin is superb.

    This coin however (just arrived today) is a little different.

    It differs from every other example of the hut series I have been able to track down in that the soldier on the reverse holds a parazonium rather than a spear.

    Constans AE2
    Obv:- D N CONSTA-NS P F AVG, Laureaare and rosette-diademed, draped, cuirassed bust left, globe in right hand.
    Rev:- FEL TEMP REPA-RATIO, Helmeted soldier, parazonium in left hand, advancing right, head left; with his right hand he leads a small bare-headed figure from a hut beneath a tree.
    Minted in Alexandria, (/ALE Gamma)
    Reference:– RIC VIII Alexandria -;

    Has anyone else seen another of this odd sub-type?

    Maybe the die cutter responsible for the lettering had an off day...the letters are unlike any other official types i have seen.
