Hey... I was wondering why PCGS price guide doesn't list modern gold coins? I just got a 2000 $5 gold eagle proof (1/10th oz) and I was wondering if its value was any higher than melt?
It does. Just go here, then go down towards the bottom of the page. Just remember, in the PCGS price guide, the proofs are almost always listed seperately (as in down below) the regular issue coins. You'll see it listed under Series 1022 -- Gold Eagles 1986 to Date Proofs. Yes, it is worth more than melt value. Oh, and welcome p91. I don't believe I've said HI to you before.
Please remember that in most cases the PCGS price guide is not a good one to use. They hype it up and most prices are many times higher than what the coin would normaly sell for. Speedy
You might sell it for 85 but, hey, you made enough to get a couple of happy meals and some double cheese burgers off the dollar menu. All profit is good.
hehehe ... yea well gold has been going up and some think its at a low point... so 15% off isn't a bad price I think... near melt for a proof has to be a bargain
