    The Roman Republic moneyer C. Numitorius had a very clear vision as to whose rugged, handsome, masculine, hook-nosed, pointy-chinned features should go on Hercules' face, namely, his own! That's my theory anyway. Lest you think this humorously aquiline rendition of the god is an anomaly, here's a whole page of them at acsearch.
