I am looking for advice on where to find information about circulating French coinage from the era of the French Revolution. Does anyone know of a specific informational website, printed reference work, and/or dealer that specializes in this era. My primary focus is ancient coins, but I have a couple of very low grade common coins from this era and am interested in exploring this topic further. I might begin a small "side" collection. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know of a specialist, but cgb.fr has loads of French coins with a lot of good background information on them
Here is a link to the Second Republic, 1848-1852.... http://www.coindatabase.com/coin_france.php?pais=520
Good question, I should have been more specific. I meant the 1789 storming-of-the-Bastille revolution. But the entire timeline is interesting to me, so I will explore the link you provided. Thanks, cpm9ball!
Funny, I'm familiar with cgb.fr for ancient coins and it didn't even occur to me to start there to look for French coins.. and it's a French firm!
