Hi Folks, I think I have found an as-yet unreported error on the new Guam Quarter! Got this in change yesterday, and as I was looking at it closer today, I notice...there is an extra piece of metal at the top of the outline on Guam! It is a RAISED piece of metal, not an indent! Would it be a die chip or break? I'm too new to errors to be able to tell. I pulled out my silver proof set to make sure it wasn't part of the design, but it's NOT on the proof! Have I made my first ever numismatic discovery? (Note: That is not a massivly doubled die on the Proof, just a reflection on the holder) This blurred a little bit but you can clearly see the extra metal here. Now, If I HAVE made a discovery: How would I go about it recognized? Would I be credited with the find? Ever since I started collecting coins and currency last year it's been my dream to make a "find", I never imagined it would happen...but I think it might have now! I can take some more pictures when the sun comes up, these pictures were taken on my bed at 3 AM with the only light being the ceiling light and the flash from my camera. I'm very excited, and hope others agree that I may have made a "find"! Billy Edit: I realize this probably should have been posted in the error section...I was so excited it totally slipped my mind that it existed! Sorry about that...
Too me it looks like a die chip and in my opinion not an error. I also do not know how or what you would need to do to get recognized for something like this - haven't searched on die chips on the Guam quarters.
I found a Guam quarter with this exact same error. Did you ever figure out what to do with this coin?
The OP hasn't been on here for 13 years. I'm not aware of anybody who documents these minor die chips.
