I just questioned the seller. Here's my question.

"If it's a steel rim coin what is the rest of the composition? How would a coin like this be minted?

Maybe I'm missing something here but I've been collecting for nearly 40 years now and have NEVER heard of such a thing."

Bet I get a response on this one.

This guy is just trying to make a quick buck. I bet any offer over 100, and its sold, and he closes the account.

Million dollar coin stored in a 2¢ cardboard flip ===== Here's your sign...

$70,000 coin collection that took 30 years to amass, yet can't count how many coins are in the collection, or doesn't even know what country they came from ======= Here's your sign....

Let's see, a starting bid of $70,000. He has at least 140 coins, so thats only $500 per coin. What a bargain!
It should be worth it just for his "RARE" 1942 winged Liberty dime.:computer:

Been collecting for 30 years and thinks his 1942 merc is "RARE". He need a big sign, and someone to beat him over the head with it.

no one with that kind of money is dumb enough to fall for that ploy, now if he had it for $50 he might get a bite or two

Over 140 coins and he doesn't have time to count them?
That tells me he can only count "real" high when he takes his shoes off.

Solving the steel rim mystery! (maybe)

    Here's the response!

"I have never seen one like this either. it seems that the rest is copper but the rim is brown too but sticks to a magnet. Thats why I think its unique and will take the highest offer within the given time frame. I have read that we make coins for other countries. Is there a possibility of this being a foreign planchet? thanks..
    ~Juston~"

or did you have glue on your magnet?

    Hmmmmm......

Let's see...He's got 1 half dollar coin a nickls a dime and othe foreign coins of unknown value. I might bid a penny apiece...that would be $1.40 for all.Plus S & H. What a deal!!! I don't know if I'd make his reserve or if I could afford the insurance.

I think I'm going to have to add 'always check the true detail of the ebay feedback as a seller'. This seller has 2 transactions in 90 days ... both as a buyer .. she / he boughts some trees. Only one as a seller ever .. sold a SWEATER. Which may explain why this collector of 30 years doesn't have time to count all the fabulous valuable coins in his very overpriced overvalued collection.

This is truly an amusing ad - I especially like the comment 'some of the coins are old with a spot that could be cleaned off' .. hey, if i give an extra 10k will you clean them for me?

So has anyone asked the seller to take a picture of all of the coins.. as offered in the ad? I think you should ~ after all ~ they should have these coins photographed and insured at that value. We'll need them ready for when we ask Heritage or Sotheby's to help auction them off.
