Here are a couple beauties that are very rare for this series that I just obtained. Would love input on grade. Enjoy!

I'd be wary of the Hawaiian. Unless you've bought it from a trusted source, there are too many fake'os out there. The only way I would buy one is in a top tier third party grader holder.

I spent a good 40 minutes looking back and forth on that Hawaii. I can't find anything wrong with it. Do you have the right weight and diameter. @Mark Metzger

Thanks for investing time in trying to authenticate. I am getting the following weights on my cheap Amazon gram scale:
    Hawaii 12.52g
    Spanish trail 12.44g
    Stone Mtn 12.42g
    Pilgrim 12.48

Those are within the tolerance level.
Last thing I would check as a starter is the diameter. I have found very convincing/contemporary Morgan dollars that were slightly smaller in diameter. Right weight just a bit thicker.

I don’t have a caliper but they did stack uniformly with other genuine commemorative half dollars. I think I’m going to send them both in for grading/authentication just to be safe. I just hate that it takes forever to get them back. I have a couple other coins I may send in including this nice seated quarter.

Congrats on you new acquisitions. I think both would top out at AU-details cleaned. I am not a fan of the toning spots.

The OP might as well just go ahead and give them a quick dip seeing as it wouldn't adversely affect their attribution or worsen the "details" . . . .

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe even a quick eZest q-tip to the dark spots then rinse and repeat.

I’ve often wondered what the thinking of the community was on this. If it would already get a details grade, is it ok to ‘detail’ it more to make it look nicer. My chopped trade dollar has been partially cleaned, but I’d kinda like to get a bit more of the crud off of it. I’ll probably just leave it, because the odds of me making it worse are pretty high!

Well, I went ahead and gave them a little touch up and feel that the general eye appeal is greatly enhanced. I intend to send them both in for authentication so I’ll update the thread in 6 months once pcgs gets them back to me

I think dip in this case. Don’t think it would matter much either way. Or what mark said

Except (maybe?) the collectability factor.........those coins, if legit, have lost 75 percent of their value........

I think the dip was a help. Good luck on the submission!
