This coin weighs correctly at 5.6 grams. From photo's hoping you can see that the reeded edge has mostly been removed. Also that the edge on the reverse is higher than the surface of the coin. In other words the reverse looks recessed from the edge.

Sooooo is this an error ? Once again relying on the experts on this site that have helped this old man in the past.

Forgot to add that the smooth edge is wider than a normal quarter.

Generally, if it can be done by a person, its not an error. To me, it looks like someone decided to hit the edge of the coin repeatedly to remove the reeding, or something of that sort.

Looks like the edge was flattened or close to it as if someone was trying to create an error but gave up as it became too much work.

Altered edge. Not a mint error of any kind.

Your coin looks like someone started to "spoon" the edge.

Why haven't they developed a machine to do this, instead of someone sitting there banging on it with a spoon? Or the dryer maybe.
