I decided recently in addition to my CAC Type Set, and my raw blast white Washington Quarters, I would have 1 other mini "Box of 20" Kennedy Coins that I like for various reasons, such as interesting toning. Along those lines, here are some Newps:
From the latest Heritage auction. It's been a few years since I purchased a US coin for my collection and the color just caught my eye.
Rolled the dice and took a flyer on this one. Not too far from qualifying for the under $50 purchase thread. Interested to see it in person.
I have no doubts about that! I am still a beginner in numismatics (about a year into it) but I'm happy to have some far more knowledgeable folks to defer to on various topics. Regardless of the outcome, I'm happy to add these to my growing collection, but I'm always glad to see good news! It doesn't happen as often as I'd prefer, but learning is far more valuable to me than a coin or two!
Rim cuds. It's also the mule. https://www.pcgs.com/news/pcgs-recognizes-1944s-50c-us-philippines-obverse
Mine is a mule? I'm not exactly seeing it, but I'm mainly focusing on the volcano. The hair part isn't exactly making as much sense to me as it probably should.
After looking it over again (and again, and again) I'm seeing that the hair on the '44 obverse appears to stop shortly after the curve in the "C" while the mule has hair flowing up to / past the open end of the "C". If this is true, that's fantastic! I never in a million years imagined I'd see a mule, let alone actually own one. I won't get my hopes up on this because... well, I'm too much of an optimist sometimes. And those hopes are easily dashed once more experienced people share their thoughts. Regardless, I still think it's a beautiful coin, and I think it only cost me something like $20-30.
