Anyone else have one of these medallion coins?

Long story but another thread reminded me about these. When I was a kid, my mom loaded me up and we took a train to Baltimore to visit friends. Activities were fishing a farm pond near a newly built residential area, an Orioles double header against the Kansas City A's, (1969) and a trip to the bay with a tour of an old ship, US Constellation. I think they were selling them for a buck for the historical society. Short story, many many moons later my first house was broken into, lost guns, jewelry, stereo equipment and some coins. This was one of them. I've seen them go on eBay from anywhere from 15 bucks to a couple thousand. LOL! Sounds like Etsy.

The coin has an interesting story, they were actually struck from metals from a later ship. I have not thought about this for many years. USCo.png USCR.png

It is an interesting story indeed. I would think the metal used to make the token you posted is from the 1854 ship and not from the 1797 ship. There is a good article on Wiki. I have ones from the USS Constitution. And the USS Olympia shown above.

Click on the photo and it enlarges it. It's easy if you have a laptop. It's one of the nice features about Coin Talk.
