I was thinking the same thing. But he was their hero too, a generation earlier.

Very true. It's interesting how we can forget that.

They were probably like, "Ole George would be rolling over in his grave if he saw what Abe has done to our country!"

Extremely nice looking. Glad they are in the hands of someone who will no doubt take care and cherish them for what they are. I could add all of them to my Confederate collection. Well centered and nicely cut, good coloring, I could go on but you get the idea. Lov'em!! :)

Terrific. Where do you acquire such pristine conditioned old bills ?

These were acquired from an older gentleman. He purchased them 10-12 years ago and was searching for the ones that in his eye were "perfect."

I'm baffled at how paper money this old, at this stage in our history, can survive in such pristine condition. I mean, IT'S PAPER!

And whoever saved these probably didn't go out of their way to make sure they stayed in good condition. Probably just shoved in drawer and forgotten about.

Not a paper collector, but NICE! Is it typical to print one side only on these? I find it amazing the early paper is hand numbered. Not to mention the signatures.
