I was hoping for another opinion on this lincoln cent I came across recently and it looks like a double earlobe but this year didn't have that error so any input would greatly be appreciated... I'll attach a photo and thanks in advance for any help..
First, the same could most reasonably be said for every variety.... that is, until it was discovered. Think of how (and I may be wrong about the date) a doubled earlobe didn't exist for 1988 cents until someone found one. Unless you're going to search only for the more valuable known varieties, it's better to look at the individual coin and to listen to what it tells you instead of focusing on the date. That said, I assume you're questioning the diagonal "line" crossing the earlobe on your coin? If so, the ear on your coin appears to be of normal size (compare it for yourself using another coin and do so while ignoring the "line") and is, unfortunately, almost certainly a well-placed hit or the like.
