Hello KC17! It's a "die chip" and a "doosie" (aka large one). It might even be called a Bee's Nest or Hornets' nest. Just maybe.

Die chip. Nice huge one. That's a nice interior die break. A Cud is an issue that involves the rim and flows into the field. Here are examples.. FYI, it's never added metal. The reason die chips and cuds appear raised is that a piece of the metal die used to strike the blank Planchet broke away so the metal from the planchet flows into the void appearing raised on the coin.
