Here are a couple better gold coins I’m attempting to obtain as part of an estate collection. Gold is so tough to photograph so I apologize for the quality (it’s still pretty decent). I’d love to know grade/value thoughts on both. Thanks!
The 1911-D lacks the scalloped reverse rim and die line at the arrowheads. The 1908-S has a misplaced and mis-shapen mintmark.
Sadly, these Indians are done quite well by the Beijing mint. They are much tougher to identify than the crap silver they put out.
Judging by what looks like jewery bezel marks on the coins...my guess would be they were made to be jewery rings or necklace in a bezel setting....thinking no one would question the items that stand out that proves them to be fakes! These were used in jewery alot in the 50 throughout 70's. Pawn shops here are loaded with 2.5 $ rings and pendants. Now with the price of gold they are busting them out selling the gold and stones then the coins. They believe that the coins are real ...but they are fakes most of the time.
If B it was real the 1911-D would be in the neighborhood of a 5k coin. Since it’s not real I would question the other as well.
I wish that was true . . . I've set aside a fistfull of mistakes made over decades that, in total, cost an awful lot. Fortunately they are real gold, so all is not lost. In fact, because gold is now up and most of those were made years ago, I'm probably in the black now.
