I decided I'd value my collection, so I was trying to find a value for my 1828 13-star half cent. But the NGC coin list I was using lists two types of coins for this date with 13 stars, C-1 and C-3. A little research (another thread on this website, thank you) told me my coin is not a C-1. After a little more research, I don't think it's a C-3 either, so what is it?

There are 546 listings for 1828 half cents with 13 stars on ebay. Maybe you would go through those for me and see if you can learn anything.

546 listings on Ebay? Good Luck there. Is any variety valued more than the others. Just curious. Thanks. biggrin.gif

It would appear the 12-star C-2 variety is worth a lot more than the other varieties. It would appear to me I received some wrong information - I think there are only the three varieties, C-1, C-2, & C-3, and my coin is a C-1. The C-1 is worth a little less up through F-12 but later on is worth a lot more, according to the NGC website.

Nope, now I am reading it is a C-3. I think that's right.

You know that you're in a gambling state, right? Is C-3 your final answer? The tables are now closed. lol.gif

It is an 1828 C-3 which is the most common of the three known 1828 half cent die varieties.

Agreed, definitely a C-3. It looks to also be a later die state as well. :)
