I don't do Kennedy half dollars, but I do Walking Half Dollars, so the words "half dollars" jump out at me, which is why I looked at this. I've never heard of the errors they are referring to, and thought maybe many of our members here might be in the same boat, and benefit from the information.
@Mountain Man. Glad to see you are out and about. The missing "FG" is listed on quite a few JFKs. I'll have to update my NIFC list. Thanks for the Vid. https://www.ngccoin.com/variety-plu...ollars/kennedy-half-dollars-1964-date/?page=1
I hope he is doing well. He was one of the first members who introduced me to CoinTalk when I joined as a kid. Good idea to check in.
The 2018 is also a circulation coin not a NIFC piece, The hanging drop on the 4 on the 64's can be found on business strikes as well so it isn't a foolproof indicator of a 64 "SMS" coin. And you aren't going to find a 64 "SMS" coin anyway. They all trace their provenance back to a single Lester Merkin sale. Do they all went for a premium price directly into serious collectors hands. So unless you happen to inherit one from a serious collector who knew what it was, you aren't going to find one. He would have done a better service to talk about the 1964 DDO or the 1974 TDO. Those you have a chance of finding.
