The only thing I hate about some dealers is that they'll always beat around the bush on a price. 4 out of 10 times I bet, when I see a coin I like and I ask either "what's your asking price" or "what would you take for it" or something to that effect.... I can't stand it when the dealer replies, "well what are you thinking" or "you tell me"..... Darn it you know what you have in it, what's it worth, and what kind of profit you wanna make on it, just answer the damn question!

Interesting comment. I can understand that with pocket change items (amount normal people carry around in their wallet), but does it also apply to $1,000+ items? I sometimes impulse buy a coin that exceeds what I have in my wallet. I currently have $800 in my wallet.

For the most part, there can be some negotiation, but if what the dealer is asking is close to what you think it is worth and you like it, then I would go forward and purchase. If you and the dealer are way off, walk away or ask why so high and politely compare your reasoning why it should be lower. If you disagree, walk away.

If you want to pay with a credit card make it known before you start to haggle.

Fees on $1000 credit card transaction can be as high as $30...

For example we spend 5 minutes reaching a price of $1025 on an item I payed $1000 for. You whip out the credit card and now I'm 5 in the hole.
