   new to cointalk, got this nice 1839 Mexican 8 reales from a dealer at a coin show for 35$, can anyone tell me what grade this would be?

   That one looks Choice VF to me; very close to XF.
   
   As you may have known, the "Go" mintmark is for the Guanajuato mint.
   
   Krause says $30 in VF and $50 in XF, so the price you paid is about right, I'd say. Nice coin.
