Kert, I,m near completion of a 65,6,and7 SMS 67 Cam set{with exception of the cents, which are all brilliant}. The only one left is the 65 dime in 67Cam...a very tough coin to locate, but I would settle for a 67 STAR, also a very tough coin. I think this one is the toughest in the group,as the cents are non-existant in CAM or in STAR. Another challenge!
I never put serious effort into the cents, but reading that surprises me. The Dansco has holes for SMS cents and I believe mine are also a bit CAMmy, but I need to look again. I don't dig it out that often. I'm pretty good at seeing cameos through 1965 packaging, so I'll keep an eye out for really superb dimes. It just feels like I've seen some in these environs.
The cents in high grade all look nice, with a hint of CAM, but don,t really show enough to make the grade. A PF CAM Lincoln compared to SMS Lincoln really stands out. The 65 SMS dimes are very sim. to the cents, not really enough CAM to make the grade. In progression, 65,s are the toughest, 66 and 67 dates are much easier to find in Cam. I believe the mint just didn,t have the process perfected in 1965, or they were overworked with the new alloyed coins, or both.
