Rarest Official: 162 Libius Severus - Greg Heinrich Rarest Provincial: 184 Uranius Antoninus - Greg Heinrich 35 community slots filled That brings us up to 145 total slots including my 110 rulers. Very impressive guys and totally awesome!! We are getting close to last years count which is the highest record so far at 150 total rulers filled.
That coin looks quite clearly to have the monogram of Ricimer so yeah, you are in the lead so far, Greg Heinrich for both the rarest provincial and official.
I think @Greg Heinrich has the most Rulers... I believe he is over 130, maybe 140? He blows away my 130 Rulers, and he has some pretty cool stuff!
I've edited my post to be more specific. I'm going to tally the results up later and it's not about what you have but what coins you posted here. So, it's possible that you have contributed more rulers than anyone so far, Alegandron.
Not a problem at all. The first year was kind of tough figuring out what works and what doesn't. Last year went well and this year is going really well so far as well.
I have Quietus too, but I don't have the photo with me (I'm away from home). I'll post my trays when I get home!
I really hate telling people this but I think you should have that coin authenticated. The coin looks stylistically off to me and the flowlines have a soft appearance.
Here is a better photo. Rauch auctions always check authencity. Plus coin has a pedigree from previous auctions.
Great job @Greg Heinrich !!! I missed your posts earlier....and those two rarities, especially G-I, have me muttering under my breath LOVE that Julia Titi denarius @Cucumbor !!!! Gawd, What a snarl of a smile and what a humongous caboose on Venus LOL
I'm pretty sure we can fill more slots. @ValiantKnight please post your Jovinus I have a feeling @Brian Bucklan may have some late rulers too (Anthemius? Majorian?). Also - what about the Romans who don't appear on the Rarity list who have coins? Antinous? Poppaea? Messalina? Can we include them?
Remember Raz' list is only for Roman Imperial coins and the names mentioned do not have Imperials, just Provincials. Many of the high rated coins in our collections are not all that rare in Provincials. Your last copy of the list leaves off 168 Tranquillina who is very rare in Imperial but very common in Provincial making her, I believe, the greatest gap between the two lists. Enjoy her coins but don't think they are rare. Add to your unlisted list Pertinax's wife Titiana and son P Jr. who exist only as Provincials but only as a handful of either.
Not sure why but Raz also includes Uranius Antoninus bronze provincials on the list which he rates as a 9 for rarity. I did not know there were coins of Titiana and Pertinax Junior, but now I'll add them to my want list. Must have... all the portraits - imperial or otherwise! It's like hunting pokemon.
Don't fall down any manholes chasing those buggers! Although, I agree: All these additional cool Rulers to find
You won't get one until you get your Silbannicus and Domitian II. There are fakes, however that turn up with some frequency. https://books.google.com/books?id=d...IITAB#v=onepage&q=titiana tetradrachm&f=false
Yes, unfortunately there will be slots that i will never fill. Once i get as far as i can with the portrait series, I will have to find something new. I am limited by budget - and though i have spent thousands on a single coin, I'm certainly not yet in the league that can spend tens or hundreds of thousands. I guess this is the journey of many ancient coin collectors anyway - from portrait series to specialty.
Please tick off Quietus, I have him: Now do you need me to buy that Basiliscus solidus and Gordian II denarius that i've been lusting after, to fill some more slots?
