This is a direct quote from the auction:

there were a very small number (under 500 each year) from 1939 - 1942 which makes this coin one of 500 and therefore makes this coin all the more rare and valuable.

are you kidding me??? what... did they make these with 4 year old dies, or did they just hop in a time machine and go back with some steel planchets? Because the last I checked, they wouldn't be making steel coated zinc cents in 1939, in fact, they hadn't yet dreamed of being dragged into the war, or copper shortages brought on by it!

buy it now price: US $1,600,000.00

Love it especially the supposed statistics of 500 pieces per year !!

    More stupidity.
And someone actually bid $1,000 (reserve not met).

Time to search the basement for George Washington's underwear, apparently anything will sell on eBay.

Ebay is such a wonderful place! Always on the lookout for scams and fraud. I commend them NOT!

As ridiculous as this auction was I did learn something that I never knew after collecting for over 35 years.

"The steel penny was generally released in 1943"

Next, I suppose someone is going to tell me that some actually had mintmarks on them! Yeah, like I'd believe that.

And Insurance "not offered." The postal service does a good job - but at that price and no insurance - I don't think so.

Now what I don't understand is for a coin worth millions, how do you get away with $7 postage? Sure is a shame bidding ended. I was going to make a bid but now I'll just go grocery shopping with the money instead. Need millions to fill my cars gas tank.
