If it had some more wear it would qualify for a low Ball

Not if it has deep enough rim dings, right? A lowball still has to grade cleanly.

The only thing that keeps this coin from a straight grade are those rim dings.

Just a follow up. Here in the waning moments, seems the interest in this old Carson City Morgan increased. Bidding has gone well north of my $150.00 offering and considering I really wasn’t emotionally attached anyway, I am bowing out of this one.

As I ddd as I’d in my first post, $150 is on the low side. I still expect $200-$250.

At this juncture, 3 things have poked their head up over the line of demarcation separating fantasy from reality:

    1. Never underestimate the power of Carson City Morgans.

    2. Never discount the raw desire to obtain something no matter the cost.

    3. Acknowledgment that @Collecting Nut is a powerful prognosticator for leading the charge saying it would go for $200-250 or more.

It’s almost like he has a crystal ball (and knows how to use it). Well done!

No crystal ball but coin collectors are and always have been fascinated by the CC mark on coins.

Yes, I just talked to a guy who likes Carson City Morgan's, he didn't even know there were quarters and dimes with the CC mintmark until I told him, he got all excited, lol.

Exactly what I mean. Collectors are fascinated and it has driven the prices up and CC mint marks are lower in volume.

You guys like this coin a lot more than I do. I grade it Good-4. The Grey Sheet says that VGs are worth $200. They don't publish grades below VG, so I would have said $100. It's not something I would have bought from a collector as a dealer unless I had to buy it to get something else he or she had.

It’s alright. Someone else owns it anyway.
