i just purchased the remaining cents and nickels to compllete my two canadian sets cents from 1934 to 2007 and nickels from 1945 to 2007 the folders look so diferent having no holes. also completed year sets of us 1952, 1953 and 1959. not a bad day at the flea market. alough the 1923 plain keeps hiding from me . i am looking for it to finish my mothers birth year set. just have to keep looking .
wvrick, way to go!!! I have been working on my Canadian penny set for ever and still have a ways to go. Lou
I've been trying to find folders for canadian cents and nickels locally and haven't had any success- where did you get these, if I may ask?
Isn't it great to complete a set? And you will feel even better whrn you get that elusive 1923 Philly cent! Clinker
Try these: www.collectorssupplyhouse.com I like the Gardmaster albums, and have a few of them. www.unitradassoc.com I am using the little blue folders for my cents, nickels, and dimes currently, although the nickel album is full and I will be stepping it up to a Gardmaster shortly.
Dansco is planning a full line of Canadian albums to be released later this year. They were delayed by the demand for President dollar albums.
i cheated i used old US blue folders and wrote in the years. last sunday at the flea market the vender that got me the finishing coins offered me canadian coins at 70 cents on the dollar. sounds like a good way to make some money to me
The last rate I got early this week was around 95 US cents per Canadian Dollar, and I think it's heading for Par soon... that's dollar for dollar, not the Golf term...
Congradulations on all those coins. I too have a lot of Canadian coins. I just put them all in plastic tubes though. As to folders I hope you didn't mean the folders where you push coins into a slot and no back visiable. These are OK for kids but for a serious collection I would advise you not to use them. The reason is the general process in making them. The backing sheet is spread with a glue and the slotted page is placed on that. It is impossible for mass production to just put the glue where there would there is no slots for coins. Also, kids like the idea of a worn coin being able to wet the back page to make the coins stick in place now glued in. This means your coins have to be pressed in with usually a thumb leaving the coin with your sweat and oily fingerprint. Then the glue on the back surely is of no great help to your coins. I would suggest you only used ALBUM types where there is plastic slides front and back. If you can not find them for Canadian coins you may want to check out Whitman for blank album covers and pages. You can order any kind of pages and as many as you want. They would all be blue. Then Whitman has sheets of Gold colored press on letters and numbers. You could easily make your own Albums. I use this system for adding additional pages to many Albums. For example I've been adding pages to my Lincoln Albums for years to hold all from 09 to presenst. I just keep adding pages to my very old Albums. I made a Dime Album for Liberty Head and Mercury and some Roosevelt Dimes all in one Album. 1892 to present. No proofs of course. Had to make my own cover since none they have would hold that many pages. If your not particular you could go to either flea markets or coin shows or even some coin shops and buy anything in the way of Albums. Even used ones. Just use a permanent marker to wipe out what ever it was and write in what ever you want. Cheap but I've done that also. Dose not look professional but for my own stuff, who cares.
YES!!!!! Someone PLEASE tell Dansco to make more foreign coin albums! Do you happen to know if they're making albums for Newfoundland and other provincial coins too?
I actually like the Canadian Large Cents. They have nice, large designs and are cheap coins to purchase.
