This will be a true guess the grade as the coin is still in my submission pile. The good thing is that I get to play along, the downside is that we have to wait until March 2024 for the results.

Please guess the grade of the 1945-S Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, and + grade or star designation.

Please don't forget to vote in the poll about how you think NGC will grade the coin, and as always, comments welcome.

Oh wow.... I been on a war nickel kick of late. I have several MS66 in my collection that don't have the panache that gorgeous nickel has..... I'll say MS66+.

I voted '66, but then got graders remorse and now give it as '65 due to some minor scratches on the portico (reverse).

A very pretty coin! It's got some minor chatter on both the obverse and reverse so it appears to be an MS-66. Nice color so it gets the star ☆.

Corrosion along with nice toning on the obverse, wear on the high points on reverse especially on the steps. Nice coin but I will keep my vote silent. Thanks, and good luck.

It is a toss up for me. I am in between grades. It looks like the luster is incredible which today seems to put the coin between a 67 and 68.
The distracting marks on the portico as Green put it might not be that bad except they look like bag marks rather than unstruck planchet roughness.
    I am between a 66+ and a 67.
The pastel toning could get it to that 67 grade.

MS 67. The toning gives it the bump. Love the pastel reverse toning.

I'm at MS66+. I think the coin is a solid 66 and gets a little help with the lovely toning.

MS 66 ....I was between 65 and 66; the fields are clean and it seems to have the needed luster to go above gem. There are a few hits that could limit it to a 65 but the color is what has me thinking they will push it up to 66. I don't see a star as NGC just does not hand many out to nickels. You almost need Morgan rainbow level toning to be confident of getting the star.

Obverse looks every bit of 66-67. Soft strike and near terminal toning are my only downsides. Reverse a bit lower at 65 and doesn’t seem to have near the eye appeal as the obverse.

I would like it in a 66 holder and if it got a + for eye appeal would be an added plus. Literally.

Well, you guys nailed this one along with @Sunflower_Coins who didn't comment but did vote in the poll MS66+.

Personally, I think the coin maxes out at MS65 and the recognition for the color is supposed to happen with a star designation, not a + grade which is supposed to indicate that the coin is high end for the assigned grade. My grade was MS65*, but hey, since NGC never gives me anything, I will take the overgrade.

Because of the lofty grade, this coin will now reside in my NGC Designation War Nickel Registry Set as it bumped a blast white MS66+.
