LOL. Yes I do. It's a carry-over type from Vespasian's last issue struck before his death in 79. The reverse references Augustus' birth sign and copies a similar type struck for him.
Born 30 December 39, we might consider Titus a Capricorn but I have read that there are documents pointing out in the time of Tiberius people considered their moon sign rather than sun. I found an online calculator that suggested Titus would be lunar Sagittarius but I know zero about Zodiac and less about the lunar. It is a nice coin type even if we just take it to mean 'global domination' or 'successor to Augustus'. Evidence suggesting one of these last two is strengthened by the lack of other zodiac types for other emperors.
My favourite Roman Ruler (A-Pius) had the whole zodiac thing ... he rocked!! I only have the one Taurus example "so far" ... but it is a dream to eventually have 'em all ... Ummm, I was thinking about going for this coin, but it got a bit complicated so I stayed away ... I ended-up scoring my two winners, so it's all good https://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=320842 Sure, the example was a bit weak, but it was at least in my current price-wheelhouse
I'll bet you a denarius that ol' Titus was a fellow Capricorn like us! The Capricorn Club. A proud institution for at least 2,000 years. Edit: aha, I was a page back and overlooked vespasian70 and dougsmit's replies when I posted this. Interesting.
Vespasian's denarius issues at Rome are peppered with antiquarian types such as this one. And any type that could show an association with Augustus was particularly appealing to a 'new' man wearing the purple.
This NASA astrology thing is nuts. Over the years NASA has criticized astrology and claimed it to be pseudo science, now they stand in righteous correcting it. If it is pseudo science, there is no correctness to it. Next they'll be telling us the earth isn't flat because there are mountains and valleys all over it.
NASA is just trying to cover up the fact that they have been active for so long. You thought it was just a 20th century administration. Nope. Check out this Nero dupondius from 64 AD. See it there? There is a space shuttle blasting off behind that chick on the reverse! Proof positive that the Romans were in space. Quick! Call the "History" Channel.
Isn't that how it usually works? Here is what I wrote on November 11, 2015 after purchasing my 3rd ancient coin (and the first one I actually received in hand as the others were in the mail on their way to me). What I didn't count on was the temptation coming from this forum. Seeing all the beautiful coins members posted on a daily basis fulled an out of control addiction that could not be quenched. I paced myself so well that a few months later I had 24 or 25 ancients, and now I'm around 62 coins. I've more or less slowed down a little now that I have lots of coins to look at every day (the exception being September when I had a binge purchase relapse). Still, I have no doubt I'll be making a few more purchases this year thanks to temptation induced by some of the posts and pictures people share here on a daily basis.
