It has been a fruitful day of searching, along with the 1916 cent, I found the attached buffalo nickel, and my mother gave me a nice 1943 steelie she came across. All this in just 9 rolls

Only 11 pre-60s today, but don't feel too bad for me. My silver nickel streak extended to 6 days in a row, and I also got a nice semi-key 49-S. :woot:

Hey John, you hunt lots of nickels, what are your war nickel to buffalo nickel ratios like? And whats the most unexpected thing you've ever found in a nickel roll, that shield nickel you posted a little while back?

    Important Milestone Reached

I have had very little time to crh the past three months, but today I hit up a few banks and found my 1000th silver coin in circulation this year...plus 27 more.

For 2016 I am at 1,027 silver coins and over 194 ounces. Almost all halves. Only about 20 boxes, the rest from visiting banks.

My ratio is about 2.5 War Nickels to every Buffalo... Actually, that Shield Nickel was someone else. The most unexpected thing I found in a nickel roll was a washer. LOL. The most unexpected thing in terms of a coin was the AU 39-D nickel (the one on the left side of my avi) two minutes after finding a 38-S in the previous roll (the one in the right side of my avi)... After I found those two coins, I thought there might be a 50-D lurking, but no such luck. Runner up would go to the thrashed 1887 V nickel I found a couple months back. It would struggle to be called a "Poor-1 Details"...

Oh, and by the way, the streak is now 7... as in 7 days in a row of finding exactly 1 War Nickel... this one was an ender, even the teller noticed the coin was "old".. 43sender-1.jpg 43sender-2.jpg 43sender.jpg

Exhausted today, after being out of town my banks still ordered halves for me. Searched 15 boxes, yes that's 15000 halves today! I had two waiting for me in Delaware. So today boxes searched this week were 17 Loomis boxes.

Lot of skunks, but last four boxes today produced the majority of finds.

    2- 90% Kennedys
    3- 90% Franklins
28-40% Kennedys (one was a 2015S Silver clad)

Also found four of those gold plated Kennedys (1-1971, 2- 1976, and 1-1993 a 1982S CuN and a 1973S CuN)

Just below my average of two silver halves per box. A lot of work for 5 plus ounces, but it was fun looking.

Research that 2015-S a little more.

If it's a silver proof than it is 90% silver. Which is a good find.

Went through about 10 CWR (cents) last night and most were full of pre-80's. I was kind of excited at first thinking I got into someone's dumped collection. But going over them today it appears maybe these were already picked over. Bummer!
I still have a full box from Loomis yet and the day isn't over. High hopes of not getting completely skunked.
    Happy Hunting!

$20 loose halves: skunk (she actually had $25 worth but I could see the others weren't silver)

    $10 BWR dimes: 2009-P

$10 BWR nickels: 1939. Also got a decent looking 1940 in change today.

    $5 BWR pennies: 1945, 1956, 1970 Canada, 2 x 2009, 2 x AU/red 1961-D

20160929_225623.jpg 20160929_225441-1.jpg Just going through a few rolls. My first 90% find! The 67 looks to be either album toned or a roll ender? What do the experts think?

5 MWR of dimes yesterday... as I dropped the contents of the 4th one on the table, I heard the familiar, happy sound... y'all know THAT sound, don't you?
