Went to one of my shops on Saturday and got this for free with $2/face of US junk silver: I don't know if he was giving me a gift or just thought it was a base metal coin and just threw it in with the sale. Either way...I was happy to have it.

Until 1988 most Austrian collector coins had one side with the issue-specific design while the other side usually had some standard design. In 1959 the mint tried something different: The 25 schilling coin, the one that you show here, had the panther (representing the state of Styria) as Archduke John had a special relation to Styria. The 50 schilling piece had an eagle (for the state of Tyrol) as it commemorated the 1809 Tyrolean Rebellion. Ah well, in 1960 they went back to mostly standard designs for the value sides ... This type of coin is not something I normally collect. However in this case I had to pick it up. One, because I really, really like it. Two, because I got it for about 1/2 of the going price. Ruthenium has the Atomic # 44. It is in the Platinum family. Current price is $42 per ounce. Melting point is 4231 degrees Fahrenheit. The word is from the Latin word for Russia. Used mostly in electronics. Normally a shiny silvery color. It has a sister coin with a frozen design but I didn't hear it calling me. Mexico 2015 Burning Libertad 1,000 pieces issued.
I just got this Albanian coin. I was looking through Krause and I really liked the designs of all the 1920s and 30s Albanian coins. They're really hard to find though. This was the only one I was able to get.
Just got around to imaging this pickup from about a month ago...been sitting on the windowsill. For a coin with a mintage of 1.5 billion...still think it's pretty cool. Included an additional shot of the coin at an angle to highlight the toning. Great Britain - 1971 New Penny
@Hiddendragon I also just came across Albanian coins about a month ago when I was on vacation in Italy with my fiancée. On a antiques fair I found a cheap 0.10 Lek coin, minted when Albania was occupied by Italy. In the meantime I purchased another 3 types of these Lek coins that were minted when Albania was occupied. However, I think your coin here was also minted in Rome, indicated by the mintmark 'R'.
I think you're right. I have a few of the Italian occupation coins and I do think they're neat, but I really like the pre-Italian ones. I wish I had more to show off, but look them up some time if you're curious.
Here are some nice ones I got today. 1897 and 1921 Swedish 2 kroners. These are silver and the size of a half dollar. The other is 1970 Gambia 8 shillings. I bought that for the hippo.
