1847 Great Britain Crown - Don’t Get TPG Grading

    I got this coin several years ago and while not the best, was pleasing. So I left it for grading at the TPG. Below are pictures & because obverse toning so pleasant tried to capture it with an angle shot:

    I am guessing that ANACS called it a 62.

    Reverse is great but I think I see wear in the hair so I’ll go 55

    AU details, cleaning - this from PCGS. I have seen a lot of these crowns and agree with the AU, but I have seen much worse to straight grade. Anyway I like the coin and the 1847 date better than the run of the mill 1844 & '45 coins...

    The problem is the retoning after the cleaning looks unnatural. So PCGS can call it AT or cleaned. Since it wasn't technically artificially toned, they go with cleaning.
