It's your money, who am I to tell you how to spend it! As I was a telling a newbie a week or so ago who wanted to collect all Wash quarters, I said it's pricey?

If I were to put together a book of quarters, I would buy the book and then each individual quarter. Some of those quarters look nice, but others are very worn. People do their collections differently, but I like hand selecting my collection.

I think if you look around and wait patiently, you should get a very nice one well under $200. I helped my dad with both the 1932 D and S. After a few weeks of watching eBay, I was able to score AU/MS quarters at good prices. Be careful on there, but if you bid on several quarters, you will eventually get one. Just don't be in a super hurry and pay attention to pictures and who the seller is.
Ultimately, if you want those quarter books you could always make an offer on them. As a previous member said, it's your money and you are free to make whatever choice you want to.

That is, if you can get one uncertified. I recently got one for $40, and it's graded PCGS AG03, but most of them are slabbed nowadays.

Here's my advice, Willy. It may take several months, but a great deal on one will likely cross your path. I was looking for a 1932-D for months before I got mine. Deals on semi-rare coins like this, the 2 king nickels (1939-D and 1950-D, not really rare in general but rare for the Jefferson series) or maybe one of the more common CC coins, cross people's paths all the time, and as long as you know that it's a good deal, that's all that matters. ;)

"there's a lot of errors on them"

This seems VERY unlikely, most "errors on coins like this are post mint damage. Why did you want to buy these quarters? If uyou wanted these for investment, Bad idea. It would be soooo much more fun buying empty folders/albums and completing the set yourself through local coin shops, shows, ebay.

$500 is overpriced for those folders. If you want them just buy the folders and the coins to fill them.

With sets like this, you must focus on the value of the early key dates. That's where most of the value is. The rest are mostly just worth the price of silver.
