    Nice Morgan cleaned. MS-62?

Maybe the obv, the rev looks really nice. Some of the scratches are on the holder… it could go UNC details - obv cleaned or MS62/63.

Agree... but how could it be a MS62 if cleaned?
I give a grade of "92", cleaned, Unc details.

These are hard because the 80s is graded to a different standard. If this is a dmpl, the minor hits are greatly exaggerated on pics. I am going with 62 dmpl

Impossible to tell behind that holder. Those don't look like die polish lines, but I have plenty of plastic slabs that are scratched, and it's really hard to see that in a photo, on the holder and not a coin. That being said, that's why they are in protective holders to begin with.:D

That being said, looks cleaned if not the holder. I've gotten burned before based on photos so don't think you are the first. Buying raw on the webz is a learning experience. My advice is, without VERY clear photos, don't pull the trigger. Edit: Yeah I looked again. Sadly, someone at some point absolutely ruined a perfectly good coin. Raked! That's a shame.

Surfaces look a bit strange but I think that might be the photo....I will say it straight graded as
    MS 64 PL

I think a lot of the marks we're seeing are on the holder and not the coin. Looks pretty well struck with minimal bag marks. And I too think it looks proof like.

    MS64PL

There is friction in the obverse fields. My first impression was AU Details Cleaned but the PL nature of the coin may be over emphasizing the hairlines which may be from circulation. I am going out on a limb.

    AU58

Looks like an AU55PL. It appears to have lived in a bank bag, which is why it would be AU but still prooflike.

I think NGC drops the PL designation if they are graded below 60, right? At least that's how their price guide is set up. I honestly don't know.

I've seen their price guide list AU58 PL coins like 1878 7TF, rev. 1878, and several more, with 1879-O dollars having a listing of AU58DPL.

That AU DPL likely comes from a Morgan living its life in a bank bag.

I’m thinking those scratches are on the slab, not the coin. MS-63.

I'd love to know if JeffJay bought this raw and sent for grading, or bought it slabbed. Hopefully during the reveal he tells us that. Buying raw coins online is absolutely a crap shoot. But that makes it fun, no guts, no glory......no outstanding bargain picks.

Cleaned 64. Not a bad looker for it, though.

NGC will grade an AU coin with the "PL" designation. PCGS appears not to (there are a few in the population reports but they are considered as mechanical errors by many).

I think the coin is PL, but as I guessed and AU58 grade, I did not include the PL designation in my guess.
