I was handed this penny in my change and wanted to see if there has been anything like it or if it has been ran over 1000 times before picked up. The wired thing is that it is completely smooth, not one bur which is wierd due to all the damage. Just looking for some thoughts on it that's all. It's a 1995 d. Thanks
There is absolutely nothing like it, it is uniquely damaged. No other coin has been damaged exactly like this one. It has been run over 19 and 1/2 times: 19 times by car tires and once by a bicycle tire (which only counts as a half) …imo…Spark
DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged There are many just like it in circulation. Coinstar machines reject them. You can find them in their reject bins. Not a mint error of any kind
We thought the same it being ran over for years, not sure what to do with it but thanks for the responses, daughter put it in a small jar and wrote " road kill" on it and put it in the window seal.
That would be a candidate for my "World's Worst Cent Collection" (found when I used to search rolls). I think my 1990-D might have yours beat so far as parking lot abuse. And my 1995-D has a unique combination of green oxidation and brown gunk....... so this probably wouldn't be a cull for me Original Thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/worlds-worst-cent-collection.391322/
It was minted in 1995 at the Denver mint. Since then it has been in a parking lot and ran over multiple times. It was recently found and out back into circulation. With 30 plus years in a parking lot I’m surprised that it looks as good as it does.
