Clad Quarter weighing 4.78g

Is this quarter considered struck on a dime stock? Help appreciated!

I noticed more of a silver sound when it hit against another quarter.

 

No, it is much too heavy for a dime planchet.

 

More likely to be a rolled slightly thin planchet, IMO.

 

A quarter struck on Dime Stock is not the same as a Quarter struck on a Dime Planchet. It means that the US Mint mistakenly used a stock sheet intended for Dime Planchets instead of the thicker Quarter Stock sheet.

Here are examples. The labels give the description and weight..

 

I don't think it is Dime Stock but probably rolled on a thinner than normal planchet. As mentioned by @expat

 

The slight thickness difference would make it sound different.

 

I would think that if it were on dime stock it wouldn't have as much detail as it has.

 

Or.... Just darn worn. It's only about a gram difference.

As others have said, it was struck on a planchet derived from rolled-thin quarter dollar stock.

 

I’ll be weighing every 1981 quarter I come across
