I recently purchased this Gordian III - Serapis (Provincial). (Not yet in hand.)

    I believe it to be:
Gordian III AE27, 11.62gm, of Odessos in Thrace.
Obv. AYT K M ANT ΓOΡΔIANOC AYΓ, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian right, facing draped bust of Serapis left, cornucopiae to right
Rev. OΔHCC-EITΩN, Serapis standing left with sceptre and raising right arm, E in left field. (Value mark.)
    Varbanov 1673 or Varbanov 4531
Can anyone please let me know which one it is?

When I was searching Gordian III - Serapis (not Tranquillina) I was amazed at the (slight) variations in many of these coins.
Please show your examples of Gordian III - Serapis.

    That's a great bronze!!

I only have Gordian depicted on a sestertius and denarii.... with this sole exception with Tranquillina.

Oh yeah, I have Philip II with Serapis too.

    Hi, Chris.
Not quite, mate. That is what I found out when I tried to 'attribute' my coin - there are so many (slight) variations.
Note: The (Obv.) legend of Moushmov 1673 has an 'O' before the 'K' whereas mine has a 'T'. (Only difference?) These are the (slight) differences that I was talking about.
Thanks for helping. I like your Philip II, by the way. I don't have one of those.

Varbanov 4531-4534 are all this same reverse with only obverse legend differences. Yours, AYT K M ANT ΓOΡΔIANOC AYΓ, is Varbanov 4531.

As always, great posts one and all...

Since I'm back, I might as well post my sestertius of goofy gordian---it's big and has a very cool portrait and a very friendly Sol greeting all the CT gang:):

Very nice Mikey. I see Sol has been working out, six pack and all. You've got to love the details and level of artistry for these big Roman bronzes.
