Latest additions to my IHC registry set

Over the last year I have greatly downsized my collection with one last gasp left; to complete and improve my NGC IHC registry set. The IHC has always been my favorite since finding my first one in a cent roll in the late 1960's. Here are my two latest additions. As a note, I previously displayed the 1870 in a post a few weeks ago when I had an issue with it not being in the PCGS database (since rectified). I just sent a misidentified 1860 pointed bust to PCGS (it's in a second gen green holder identified as a rounded bust) to get it properly attributed and reholdered. Otherwise, I have all the slots filled. Right now I'm replacing lower graded coins or BN examples with RB or RD examples. The only year that I will probably make an exception is 1877 (current coin is an AU58).

    Note: The 1870 images are from DLRC 1870IHMS65RBFS303O.jpg 1870IHCMS65RBFS303R.jpg 1871ihco.jpeg 1871ihcr.jpeg

When they reholder do they also check the grade?

I'm not sure what they will do. I sent several requests for info but got no response. The pointed bust is rarer than the rounded bust. The PCGS price guide lists an MS64 rounded bust at $675 and the pointed bust at $1400. I'd like to fill my pointed bust slot in my registry set so I need to have PCGS attribute it properly. I guess the question I have is, at the time this coin was graded by PCGS, did they not have a category for the pointed bust type yet?

I wish I knew. I am just not well versed in IHC's.
    Nice additions to your collection!

You have an outstanding collection of IHC's. I am very glad for you. Hope you are able to find what you're looking for, and at a very good price. I have a set of IHC's, I'll say complete, but I don't have an 1875 with the dot, nor a type 2 1886. But, I've got all dates and the two S mints. But, my best coin is not even close to your worst coin. My best may be VF-XF, on a "Good" day? But, I really enjoy my collection, and thrilled to have it. It's just got a lot of "history" to it, lol. Thanks for posting. I love seeing them in such fantastic condition.

Here's my latest Ebay addition to replace a lower grade one. The pictures from my cell phone aren't the best but show the original mint red better than the seller's pictures. The only negative are some scratches on the holder. Still a very nice 1872.

I agree, that's very distracting. So, just send it to me and you can find a better one for you.

I just purchased this one from a recent Heritage auction to replace a lower graded one.

Man, you're killing me, lol. My eyes have flash burn from looking at that one! Extremely nice coin. Very glad you were able to get it. I'm going to have to start wearing a welding hood when I go to look at your "upgrades", lol. NICE!

I should have responded sooner. Yes they did regrade the coin and it gained one point; MS64 (old), MS65 (new). I guess the bump in grade didn't surprise me since a number of older graded coins (green holders) seem to get a grade boost these days.
