    Mr. Green,

Hope this brightens your day, at least a little, a midge, or a mote.

Did you buy that when gold was $32 an ounce? That’s a dream coin for me. Gorgeous coin!

It is a privilege to see a coin as rare and as beautiful as this one. Thank you for sharing.

You have got to be kidding. The 1795 half eagle listed for $75 in Fine and $150 in the first edition of The Red Book. That coin, which is an AU-55, probably has been sold as an Unc. at one time or another.

BTW, FDR set the gold price at $35 an ounce in 1933. It stayed at that official level until the 1970s. There were places where it sold for more at times.

CoinCorgi Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!

Here's a coin that's probably had worse days than you!

Cheer up. It is 10% silver lining :)

The Mexicans did a good job at making a coin that was only 10% silver look like silver, at least for a while.

Well, yes of course I was kidding. I forgot it was $35 not $32. My first Red Book is the 1961 edition, about 14 years newer than the first edition. If only I had known then……. You did exceptionally good.

No I didn’t “do good.” I’m just old and had interest in U.S. gold coins in the 1960s.
