You should learn quite a lot about purchasing currency in another country...just be wary of proof coins....

Go see the volcano at Lago Arenal. I think it is still active this year, excellent for night viewing.

 

Whitewater rivers. Hop on with an outfitter and flip out. Git yo' surf on !

When I was there, they served cow's milk everywhere I went. Now trying to figure out if your steak is cow meat or horse meat is truely a challenge.

 

If you go to San Jose there's a gold museum in the downtown area that's cool. I also strongly encourage you to do a zip cable tour through the rain forest canopy. There's several in CR. I hear the best one is in the Monteverde area but haven't done that particular one personally.
