NGC's photos are disgraceful, they should be embarrassed.

In the early days of computer graphics, when memory was still terribly expensive, people would try to use as little of it as possible to store an image. A full-color image took twenty-four bits (individual memory elements) for every pixel (dot) in the image. A full-grayscale image took only eight bits per pixel. A black-and-white image took only one bit per pixel (on or off, white or black). Two bits gave you four gray levels, four bits gave you sixteen gray levels.

So, in my professional and technical opinion, NGC is presenting here a two-bit photo.

AND… historically, beginning with the Spanish Milled Dollar, dollars were cut into eighths leading to the term “pieces of eight” or “bit”, which meant two eighths of a dollar was 25% which gave rise to the term “two bits” for the nickname of a quarter. “Shave and a haircut…two bits!”

What’s evident? We have a two bit “two bits” comprised of two-bit pixels.
    imo…Spark

Sometimes the photos are just bad....but if it helps get the coin at a discount, that's a win for you!
